Reem Acra and Monique Lhuillier both delivered beautiful collections this past Bridal Market week and one thing they surely had in common was the bridal cape…or so we think it is. Light tulle draped ever so beautifully on the shoulders and grazing the hemline of the dress so sweetly has us wondering if this is a new style to be trending in the coming year. Bridal capes or dropped veils…a mist of tulle…we don’t care, we just know that we like it!

Another Bridal Market has come and gone here in New York City leaving behind a flourish of organza, tulle, beads and lace. After viewing hundreds of dresses, here are The Aisle’s favorite looks and trends.
Many designers opted for lighter fabrics and interesting textures…say goodbye to heavy beadwork and embellishment. This Spring Bridal Market was all about amazing details like feathered appliques at Angel Sanchez to rippling layers of chiffon at Vera Wang. Texture is in!
Last fall, Vera Wang caused a stir by introducing black for bridal on her runway. This Spring collection was no different with crimson red and plum-colored confections of tulle; not one white gown was seen in her collection. Oscar de la Renta followed suit with his own version of a red bridal gown complete with a black lace mantilla veil, while also showing a pale blue fit and flare gown as well as a floral detailed number in pastels of blue, pink and green. Angel Sanchez also showed pale blue in his collection with two soft icy tulle creations.
One particular silhouette had it’s moment this week…the peplum. Seen on the Red Carpet this past award season and making cameos in Ready-to-wear lines; the peplum is huge! From Amsale’s asymmetrical satin tuft at the hip, to Elizabeth Fillmore’s high-low overskirt; this silhouette is chic, modern and wants to be worn.
Take an early peek at some of our favorite photos and gowns from our favorite time of year…New York Bridal Week. What are your favorites?

The Aisle New York went backstage yesterday at Angel Sanchez’ 2013 Spring Bridal Collection! We saw glimpses of hair by Leonard Zagami of AnthonyLeonard Salon for Moroccanoil and make-up by Jean Fayard for Clarins, in action. Youthful and ethereal, the models were given textured waves accented by plastic wrap headbands, inspired by the elaborate textures and beadwork of Angel’s gowns. The soft peaches and pale blues used in the make-up evoked the feelings of frost and ice.
The models walked the runway in fairy-like off white ball gowns and pale blue tulle. Angel Sanchez’ collection took traditional silhouettes and modernized them with asymmetrical sequined trims, geometric acetate details, feather appliques and ruffled layers of organza. Edgy but soft, Angel’s collection is perfect for the contemporary bride.

Angel Sanchez Bridal Beauty goes PINK.
Angel wanted pink haired ladies walking down the aisle this season and thanks to Kevin Murphy’s wonderful Color Bug it was possible. Take a peek at our behind the scenes pics.

Last looks at Amsale.
Our favorite gown at Romona Keveza. This bustier is so chic. And the point d’esprit skirt… wow.
Watch the final walk at Junko Yoshioka!
