Don’t fret! We’ve got you covered when it comes to the bridal bustle…which can often be confusing. Here are the most popular looks to choose from for your wedding day.
The French Bustle is one of the most popular and the prettiest bustles to choose from. With this particular bustle the train is folded under the skirt of the dress and secured with a series of color-coded ties. This creates a pouf in the back. Other ideas are to double or triple the bustle by creating tufts of fabric, one on top of each other…think icing or whipped cream.

The One-Point Bustle is best for lighter fabrics and slimmer silhouettes. This bustle is held at one point at the base of the bodice; it’s over as opposed to the French which is pulled under.

The Austrian Bustle works on a pull system that cinches the train of the dress up. This is starting to gain popularity in the bustle world because of its extremely interesting look.

The Ballgown Bustle is held at several points at the base of the bodice creating an even hemline all the way around of the skirt of the gown. This is perfect for the bride that does not like the look of a regular One-Point bustle or the French Bustle.

Bustles 101…a wedding cake walk, no?
Reem Acra and Monique Lhuillier both delivered beautiful collections this past Bridal Market week and one thing they surely had in common was the bridal cape…or so we think it is. Light tulle draped ever so beautifully on the shoulders and grazing the hemline of the dress so sweetly has us wondering if this is a new style to be trending in the coming year. Bridal capes or dropped veils…a mist of tulle…we don’t care, we just know that we like it!

Another Bridal Market has come and gone here in New York City leaving behind a flourish of organza, tulle, beads and lace. After viewing hundreds of dresses, here are The Aisle’s favorite looks and trends.
Many designers opted for lighter fabrics and interesting textures…say goodbye to heavy beadwork and embellishment. This Spring Bridal Market was all about amazing details like feathered appliques at Angel Sanchez to rippling layers of chiffon at Vera Wang. Texture is in!
Last fall, Vera Wang caused a stir by introducing black for bridal on her runway. This Spring collection was no different with crimson red and plum-colored confections of tulle; not one white gown was seen in her collection. Oscar de la Renta followed suit with his own version of a red bridal gown complete with a black lace mantilla veil, while also showing a pale blue fit and flare gown as well as a floral detailed number in pastels of blue, pink and green. Angel Sanchez also showed pale blue in his collection with two soft icy tulle creations.
One particular silhouette had it’s moment this week…the peplum. Seen on the Red Carpet this past award season and making cameos in Ready-to-wear lines; the peplum is huge! From Amsale’s asymmetrical satin tuft at the hip, to Elizabeth Fillmore’s high-low overskirt; this silhouette is chic, modern and wants to be worn.
Take an early peek at some of our favorite photos and gowns from our favorite time of year…New York Bridal Week. What are your favorites?

It was a group consensus on our weekly #Bridechat twitterfest, that the 20’s Art Deco inspired gowns are definitely in for 2012. The Spring collections of designers like L’Wren Scott, Ralph Lauren, and Alberta Ferreti gave us slinkier styles and dropped waistlines. Sinuous and graceful; these silhouettes are perfect for destination weddings and small venues with an intimate feel. With our selection of Sheath Dresses on The Aisle New York by designers such as Réva Mivasagar and Elizabeth Fillmore, our brides can select their very own Art Deco inspired look.

It’s happening. Another literary work turns film, turns pop culture phenomenon. With the release of The Hunger Games this past weekend all things “Games” inspired are coming to social media outlets near you. From Cinna’s gold eye make-up, to the couture styles of Effie Trinket, fans are “catching the fashion fire.” One signature look from the film and story is Katniss’ braid. Once considered a bohemian hair style and the “I don’t have time to do my hair” look, braids are making their way to chic up-do status.
Beauty details from Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2012 Bridal and Valentino’s Spring 2012 RTW, had gorgeous models prancing down the runways with braided numbers atop their heads. Braids aren’t going away…ever. Whether you wear it like a crown and lose curls as Jane Aldrige from Sea of Shoes does or as an asymmetrical look with flowers; a braided hairstyle offers up the dreamy, romantic vision of a bride.
Every little girl dreams of playing dress up, and Ali Galgano of Charm & Chain is no exception. As the founder of one of the internet’s premier jewelry shopping destinations, Miss Ali’s closets, walls, dressers, and coffee tables are constantly dripping in colorful jewels and gems to accent her vintage and designer duds. Ali’s SoHo, New York City, apartment is the epitome of downtown chic, featuring an eclectic mix of statement furniture, found objects, fashion-inspired prints, sensuous glassworks, and tons of West Broadway light. It is here that she lives with her fiancé, music entrepreneur Dan Zaccagnino.
At The Aisle New York we believe that happy brides make the prettiest brides, and what could make any bride happier than a day spent trying on wedding gowns in the comfort of your very own home? We visited Ali with some of our prized bridal gowns from Isaac Mizrahi, Monique Lhuillier, Carolina Herrera and more for her to adorn with standout pieces from her personal Charm & Chain treasure trove. While she doled out styling advice (“More is always more!”) and beauty preferences (“It’s all about a dramatic eye”) we became transfixed by Ali’s newly engaged glow and her magnificent confidence – it’s not every day you meet a bride who can pull off an “Ellis Island” themed wedding reception!
In our photo montage from our bridal playdate with Charm & Chain you will find myriad inspiration on how to use accessories to give a spare wedding gown a personalized flare, how to accent an embellished gown with the proper amount of additive bling, ways to make your bridal bustier work overtime as eveningwear, and so much more. With The Aisle New York’s easy 5-day try-on and return policy, you too can have a bridal dressing session in the comfort of your own home, just like Ali!
